As a teacher my office was open to all students after school. I had a particular student who came in everyday to argue whatever was on his mind that day. One day he brought in detailed plans to construct a time machine.

My question to him was, “If this actually works, what will you do?”

His answer, “The Time Traveler’s ultimate objective, to go back and kill Hitler.”

My response was, “Well, that would be a mistake.”

So began a two-week discussion on how Hitler won the war for the Allies. At the end of our discussions he looked at me and said, “You need to write a book about this.” And each day he came by to ask if I had written the book. This is my answer to his challenge and I hope it makes a fascinating history even more engaging.
